چکیده

Biomethanation and dewaterability characteristics of primary sludge (PS), secondary (SS) mixed (MS) fractions were assessed after anaerobic stabilization under parallel batch continuous mixing conditions at 35℃ in order to investigate the performance separate digestion system. Similar methane conversion/yield values obtained PS, SS MS with mixing’s positive effect only PS digestion. Continuous resulted 50% increase yield (600(+/-100) mL/g VSadd.d. produced a comparable 650(+/-100) VSadd.d showing no due pattern. Settling stabilized superior samples. A reverse relationship was between settling where intermittent enhanced ability while higher sludges. Polyelectrolyte (PE) addition showed negative on settleability Low degree volume reduction an SVI 64 VS compared 25% 82 mode for PS. similar trend but weaker 182 15% 200 indicated much lower

Effect of nickel on the flocculability, settleability, and dewaterability of activated sludge.

Short-term and long-term effects of nickel (Ni) (0.1-10mg/L) on the physicochemical properties of activated sludge, including the flocculability, settleability, and dewaterability, were investigated. It was found that these properties were unaffected after short-term exposure (1day) to Ni(II) even at the level of 10mg/L. After long-term exposure (60days) to 1 and 10mg/L of Ni(II), however, the ...

Improvement of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge, Using Combined Hydrogen Peroxide and Thermal Pre-Treatment

The present study investigates the influence of individual and combined hydrogen peroxide and thermal pre-treatment of waste activated sludge on anaerobic digestion. For so doing, it employs anaerobic batch reactors in the mesophilic conditions. For comparison, soluble fractions of organic matter, biogas production, biochemical methane potential, removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), and vol...

Ultrasonic and Thermal Pretreatments on Anaerobic Digestion of Petrochemical Sludge: Dewaterability and Degradation of PAHs

Effects of different pretreatment methods on sludge dewaterability and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) degradation during petrochemical sludge anaerobic digestion were studied. Results showed that the total biogas production volume in the thermal pretreatment system was 4 and 5 times higher than that in the ultrasound pretreatment and in the control system, and the corresponding volatil...

Anaerobic co-digestion of coffee waste and sewage sludge.

The feasibility of the anaerobic co-digestion of coffee solid waste and sewage sludge was assessed. Five different solid wastes with different chemical properties were studied in mesophilic batch assays, providing basic data on the methane production, reduction of total and volatile solids and hydrolysis rate constant. Most of the wastes had a methane yield of 0.24-0.28 m3 CH4(STP)/kg VS(initia...
